My blog...

- to ramble & think outloud
- to think positively
- and to ramble

German Ideosyncrasies & weird translations

- they love to stare, doesn't occur to them that it's a bit rude.
- school can be cancelled the day before, good job I don't go out to work.
- they love to pay for stuff with the exact change, counting out the small coppers while the rest of us wait...
- children's birthday parties: 3hours long, start with birthday cake and end with a cooked meal.
- my new stainless steel knives are described as 'flexible', I think they mean 'versatile' as opposed to 'bendy'.

We can't really know what a pleasure it is to run in our own language until we're forced to stumble in someone else's.
